Naas GAA Club-Impact of Covid 19 on Club Financial Position
November 08, 2020
Dear Member,
The impact of Covid 19 restrictions which have been in place since March 2020 are having a severe impact on the clubs finances.
We have become accustomed to having a reasonably healthy financial status over the last number of years which has been primarily generated by the juvenile disco and incomes received from the hire of our facilities. In 2020 our income stream has all but dried up and we are projecting a shortfall between our income and expenditure of €30,000 for 2021
In an attempt to reduce the deficit between our income and expenditure a number of cost reduction initiatives are already in place and we have significantly scaled back the number of staff in the bar, we have also decided not to replace Paul our previous bar manager in the short term.
We will no longer be providing subscription TV channels and we are reviewing our current energy costs and associated contracts. We are also endeavouring to offset / postpone the payment of fees to local and statutory authorities. However after implementing these cost reduction measures we are still projecting a deficit of €30,000 for 2021.
After reviewing the options available to the club, the executive committee have decided that the best option available is to implement a once off levy for 2021 to bridge the gap in our day to day finances whilst our income remains negatively impacted by Covid.
As a club we are very disappointed to have to take this course of action. We believe this action is necessary to secure the financial viability of the club for 2021. We hope that everyone will appreciate and understand the need to ask you the members to provide these additional funds by means of this levy for 2021.
This levy is envisaged to stay in place for one year only in the hope that we will be able to return to normal operations in 2022. It will be incorporated into your annual membership fees for 2021 which will include an option to commence paying from 1st January in 4 monthly instalment amounts.
The levy will be implemented as follows:
Family Membership levy will be €40.00 per family (9yr-21yr old inclusive)
Adult Player levy will be €35.00 each (22yr old and over)
Non playing Members levy will be €10.00
Non playing Couples Membership levy will be €10.00
No levy will be applied to the nursery children (4yr-8yr old)
Additional voluntary contributions can also be made when renewing your 2021 membership.
We thank you for your understanding and look forward to your continued support.
John Mc Mahon
Chairman.
