Naas GAA’s Coiste Gaeilge launched a bilingual 16-page booklet on Friday, 18th September chronicling the achievements of the Naas Senior Hurling Team in last year’s championship. “Camán lads” is a collaboration between Gael-Choláiste Chill Dara and Naas GAA and aims to promote Irish within the club.
“The team has worked very hard to get where it is today,” Austin Bergin, chairman of the hurling committee said at the launch, “While there has been many highs and lows over the years, we hope to build on our success of last year”. “This booklet is a great way of promoting Irish in the GAA as well as acknowledging the hard work of the mentors and players”
Tiarnán Mac Conchradha from the Coiste Gaeilge said, “Going through the bilingual booklet, you get an opportunity to use your Irish to read reports on the Kildare County Semi-Final, Final as well as Rounds 1 and 2 of the Leinster championship”.
The booklet also includes an insight into the individual players by one of the players, Darach Mac Donncha. Mick Moriarty from the Coiste Gaeilge said, “It’s my favourite section of the booklet and isn’t in any way responsible for his move to Vancouver!”
“Míle buíochas le gach uile duine a chabhraigh leis an gCoiste Gaeilge an leabhrán a chur le chéile”.

Bhí Fondúireacht Joe McDonagh i dteagmháil le CLG Nás na Ríogh agus d’iarr siad orainn cúpla nóiméad a thógáil le suirbhé a dhéanamh. Is mar mar aidhm aige fiosrú a dhéanamh ar cá bhfuil muid mar Chlub ó thaobh forbairt na teanga de agus cé na seirbhísí a d’fhéadfaimis leas a bhaint astu go luath chun cur lenár bpróifíl Gaeilge. The Joe McDonagh Foundation have been in touch with Naas GAA and asked can we take a few minutes to complete a survey, which aims to explore where we might be as a Club in terms of language development and what services we might benefit from in the near term to enhance our Irish language profile.
Is féidir na torthaí a fháil ach cliceáil ar an nasc thíos. Cabhraíonn na torthaí leo plean teanga a chur le chéile. The results can be found by clicking the link below. The results will help plan a language plan for the club.

Déantar go leor cainte faoin stuaim a bhíonn ag foireann na bhfear ag Áth Cliath agus iad i seilbh na liathróide ach bhí mná Átha Cliath gach pioc chomh maith leo inné.
There is a lot of talk about Dublin’s men self-control in possession of the ball but Dublin’s women were equally as good on Sunday.
Bhí an chomhimirt roimh chúl Carla Rowe ar fheabhas ar fad agus an pas ceart á thabhairt i gcónaí le linn na gluaiseachta sin, ach is ag deireadh an chluiche is fearr a léirigh siad an taithí atá acu.
The team work before Carla Rowe’s goal was excellent with the right pass always given during the movement, but it was at the end of the game they best demonstrated their experience.
Tá meas tuillte acu / They are worthy of respect.

Ros Comáin V Gaillimh 2018
Mar a tharlaíonn sé, ba é seo an ceathrú huair a chasfaidh Ros Comáin agus Gaillimh ar a chéile sa chluiche ceannais le trí bliana anuas mar bhí athimirt ag teastáil chun na foirne a scaradh óna chéile in 2016, agus Gaillimh a rinne an beart an geábh sin. Anuraidh, ba iad na Gaillimhigh rogha na n-údar chun an chraobh a thabhairt leo arís ach tháinig Ros Comáin aniar aduaidh orthu agus rinne siad scrios. Níor tharla sé seo an bhliain seo. Beidh athas ar Kevin Walsh agus a imreoirí le 46 craobhacha mar an gcéanna le Maigh Eo í gConnacht.
As it happens this was the fourth time that Roscommon and Galway have played each other in the final over the past three years as they have played a replay in 2016 with Galway winning on that occasion. Last year, Galway were the favourites to win the championship but Roscommon came back and caused an upset. This didn’t happen this year. Kevin Walsh and his players will be happy to have won 46 championships – the same as Mayo

Cuairt ó TG4 go CLG Nás na Ríogh
On Friday 18th May, Naas GAA hosted TG4, who are putting together a programme about the close links between GAA clubs and local Gaelscoileanna. With the permission of the school’s principal, almost 30 students spent the day in the grounds playing games under the expert coaching of David Murphy from Kildare GAA and being interviewed for the show which will “air” later this year, in September/October.
12 clubs nationwide were selected and we were delighted that our club was one of these. The close links between local Irish groups like Sult na Sollán, the Gaelscoil and CLG Nás na Ríogh, made our club an ideal candidate for inclusion in the show. Micheál ó Muircheartaigh will introduce every club and give a short history including key events of each club. All the students involved will travel to a recording studio to take part in further recordings in early June.
We would like to thank Tommy Loughran, Owen L’Estrange, Mr. Diarmuid O’Chonghaile and Múinteoir Niamh Nic Choinceanainn for helping to create such a positive impression of our club.
Comhghairdeas do na daltaí go léir a ghlac páirt sa chlár. Maith sibh.

Bhí foireann camógaíochta faoi a deich ag imirt in aghaidh CLG Na Sollán ar an Domhnach. Ba shamplaí maithe iad na cluichí sin den dea-iománaíocht. Bhí na cailiní an-aclaí agus bhuaigh siad trí chluiche in aghaidh a n-aon. Ádh mór orthu agus ar na meantóirí.

Céard faoi na Cait a chaill an chéad dá chluiche sraithe agus roinnt daoine den tuairim gurb é deireadh ré a bhí i ndán dóibh? Bhuel tá a bhfreagra tugtha acu ar an gcaint sin. Tá siad ar bharr na sraithe iomána arís an bhliain seo leis an bua in aghaidh Tiobraid Árann, 2-23 : 2-17. Tá cúpla saol fós fághtha ag na Cait agus iad ag feabhsú cluiche i ndiaidh cluiche. Tá óige agus taithí mhór acu anois.

Chuir tús an deireadh seachtaine seo chaithe le sraith iomána Allianz agus seachtain i ndiaidh Lá Fhéile Pádraig a imreofar an cluiche ceannais. Idir an dá linn, beidh na comórtais chraoibhe tríú leibhéal againn agus na cluichí deireanacha i gcomórtais na gclubanna. Ciallaíonn sé sin go mbeidh dhá chluiche beagnach gach seachtain ag cuid maith imreoirí. Cruthaíonn sé deacrachtaí mór go leor do na h-iomreoirí ach don lucht féachana is rud breá é.
Last weekend was the start of the Allianz hurling series and a week after St Patrick's Day we will see the finals being played. In the meantime, we will have the third level competitions and the final games in the club competitions. This means that a lot of players will have two games almost every week. It creates great challenges for the players but for the viewers, it’s a good thing.
