RESERVE A SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL.

This was an outstanding performance by the Naas second team as they out played Sarsdfields to win the Reserve A title by eleven points.


Two first half goals by Shane Gibbons in the 6th. minute and Luke Griffin in the 22nd. minute were instrumental in putting Naas ten points clear approaching the interval.


Three late points reduced the arrears to seven as we led at the break 2 – 8 to 0 – 7.


Naas continued to dominate in the second half and with four unanswered points led 2 – 13 to 0 – 8 after twenty minutes. Naas were great on the day playing some great football.


Naas started well with points from Conor Mellett and Luke Griffin. Shane Gibbons goaled for Naas after six minutes. Ross Connor replied for sarsfields.


Naas stretched their lead to six points with points from Luke Griffin and Neil Farragher but Sarsfields replied with two of their own from Eoin O’Sullivan and Ross Connor.


Naas took control with a Conor Mellet free and a Davy Shaw point followed by a Luke Griffin goal to lead 2 – 6 to 0 – 3. Ross Connor and Barry Murphy swapped points. Luke Griffin was on the mark again with a Naas point as we approached the interval.


Sarsfields fought back in injury time with three points from Ross Connor(2) and Eoin o’Sullivan. Naas led 2 – 8 to 0 – 7


At the start of the second half Luke Griffin and Karl Hartley swapped frees. Naas now got on top with four unanswered points from Conor Mellet, Davy Shaw, Mikey Kenny and Neil Farragher.


Sarsfields replied with two points but Naas had the last say with two James Burke points.
