In an cracking game that had all the hallmarks of a championship clash this top of the table fixture between Naas and Athy ended in a draw. This was a fair result as no team deserved to lose this hard fought encounter.

Naas dominated the first twenty minutes and led 0 – 9 to 0 – 3. At the interval Naas led by three 0 – 10 to 0 - 7.  Athy dominated the first quarter of the second half.

A James Eaton goal giving them a two point lead 1 – 9 to 0 – 10.  Naas fought back in the last quarter but it took a Ronan Joyce free to level the game in injury time.

Ronan Joyce opened the scoring for Naas but Kieran Farrell replied for Athy. Naas went o – 3 to 0 – 1 up with points from Eoghan Bateman and Ciaran Doyle. James Eaton and Ross Bell had the sides level after nine minutes. Between the 10th and 20th. minutes Naas scored six unanswered points from Ronan Joyce and John Hill(2 each) with one each from Brian Kane and Paul McDermott to lead 0 – 9 to 0 – 3.  Athy outscored Naas by four points to one in the last ten minutes to reduce the arrears to three points at the interval.

Athy were on top at the start of the second half with a James Eaton free and a Niall Kelly point. In the 14th. minute James Eaton goaled to put Athy in front by two. Naas replied with two Ciaran Doyle points to bring the sides level.

With five minutes to go Aiden Begley put Naas in front. Athy replied with two free from Liam McGovern to go a point ahead with time almost up. The Naas captain Ronan Joyce saved the day with a late free for a draw.
