Leinster Senior Camogie League   21/02/2018

Three more senior debutants for Naas Camogie.

The tidal wave from Naas juvenile camogie continues to flood the Naas senior ranks on foot of the Leinster Senior League match in Danesfort on Saturday.

Impressive first outings for Tara Herley, Lauren Palmer and Kate Flanagan marked Naas’ first foray of the season into Cats territory.

Indeed the athletic Flanagan shows immediate signs of fulfilling her under-age promise with a string of lengthy clearances throughout the game.

An experienced Danesfort outfit proved too strong overall for the visitors despite sterling defensive displays again from Emily Quinn, Aislinn Marmion, Anna Kennedy, Lorna Kearns (a lovely striker) and Grainne Dowling.

The relentless Hannah Cusack is in great form at centre back and is very happy with her game at the moment.

Niamh Tuohy and Emer Hegarty were tireless in the middle of the field and will get more reward on a drier sod over the coming weeks.

Kate Doorey was once again Naas’ best forward and brings real aggression to the front line.

Molly Ryan and Aine Conway came under serious pressure around midfield in what was a tough hour’s hurling in soft conditions.

Siofra Mernagh, Kerrie Lewis and Kaytlyn Walsh are getting loads of hurling and will improve again.

With Ailbhe Ryan, Sarah Clancy and Ciara Brown all now flying and showing the benefits of the amount of hurling they’re getting, competition for places is hotting up, with a very busy schedule of games coming up over the next month.

Two more games next weekend.

SOTS: Hannah Cusack.
