Kildare Camogie Autumn League U13 Division 1 Final   26/10/2017

Naas 3:4 Celbridge 3:3

Last weekend’s Storm Brian moved the date and venue of the 2017 Kildare Autumn League U13 Division 1 Cup final to last Tuesday evening October 24th in Celbridge GAA club under lights and rainy conditions.

Both Naas and Celbridge seemed up for the challenge in what proved to be an exciting competitive game down to the last moment. Clara Reilly opened the score board with a fine point and a free taken by Allie McGrath allowed Rachel Buggy to score a goal giving Naas a good start.

Celbridge however quickly got into the game scoring 1:2. Allanah Prizeman and Emma Kearns score two points from play allowing a short lead once again. This however was followed by a goal and a point from Celbridge.

Naas had two more scoring opportunity to no avail and the half time closed with Celbridge leading 2:3 to 1:3. The second half opened with Naas appearing more dominant than what they had been in the first half. A 45 free allowed Allie McGrath and Rachel Buggy to repeat their first half goal combination opportunity making the sides level at 2:3. A point from play followed by Allie McGrath however Celbridge bounced back with a goal score.

Celbridge now leading by 2 points allowed the Naas girls to do nothing but aim for scores. While the game shifted to Naas putting pressure on the Celbridge backs and goalie there were many missed scoring opportunities in last quarter and strong scoring attempts made by Julie Kennedy and Sophie Hazzard.

A last minute 45 for Naas allowed Allie McGrath to shoot and score the winning goal and victory for Naas emerging as Kildare 2017 Autumn League U13 Division 1 winners.
