Naas Ladies' Gaelic Football ‘Fun Day'   03/10/2017

Naas Gaa Club was drenched in sunlight on Saturday which was in keeping with the general mood and happy atmosphere in the club as the children ranging in ages from 4 years to 12 years were very excited when they spotted the various activities , particularly the inflatable pitch and Hot Seat Goals all arranged on the pitch.

There was a tremendous attendance, in excess of two hundred girls and their parents and guardians.

The main focus of the day was to provide a fun- filled afternoon of sport and invite new girls to explore and discover a new sport; namely Ladies’ Gaelic Football.

Naas Ladies’ Football and Naas Gaa Club in general had issued an invitation to the general Naas community to come and experience the facilities and welcoming atmosphere in Naas Gaa Club.

It was very well organised by a very hard working committee who planned for many weeks and most importantly had their prayers answered with glorious weather.

There were activities for all age groups and they were manned by the mentors , minor and senior players in the club.

The Hoola Hoop Challenge was also another favourite activity while the Obstacle Course provided a laugh or two as children and adults wriggled through tunnels etc.

The girls and boys were also given an opportunity to test their speed skills and kicking skills in Field Rounders.

Liam Whelan, a well known member of Naas Gaa Club kept everyone amused with his usual witty banter as he gave a running commentary on the various activities.

There was a lot of energy expended and there was a break in activities to enjoy some drinks and fruit , kindly sponsored by Applegreen Sallins Road, Naas.

There was tea and coffee available for all the adults who needed their energy batteries recharged also.

The highlight and finale of the afternoon was ‘ Sponge the Mentor’ where all the girls and their visitors tried with all their might to wet the mentors and a laugh was had by all.

All the children were then presented with a Goody Bag as they departed the club after a very enjoyable and entertaining afternoon of fun and games.

Naas Ladies’ Football would like to gratefully acknowledge the generous sponsorship of the following local businesses:

Invertek Drives, Sharp Group, Westin Homes, Halligan Transport, Springwood Builders, Mc Fadden Construction, Kilbride Concrete Pumps, AppleGreen , Sallins Rosd ,Naas,
Ted Johnsons Ltd and Tiger Ice cream.

It was a very successful day and the happy faces of all the children was testament to this success.

The mentors look forward to a very enjoyable season ahead with all the present players and welcome all the new girls to become part of this Naas GAA Ladies’ Football Community!

Bíonn spórt agus spraoi againn I gcónaí.
