Ladies Football Div5 Final Naas(2) 6-14 Clane(2) 4-01   05/05/2017

Naas (2) 6-14   Clane (2)  4-1

The Division 5 final took place in St Kevin’s ground in Staplestown on Thursday 27th April.

It was a contest between the second teams from both Naas and Clane. Both teams gave a wholehearted performance with the Naas girls getting off to a flying start with a goal and 4 points in the first 10 minutes. Naas kept up the pressure with some fine football and excellent passing.

Clane defended well but could not stop the accurate score taking of the Naas girls. The score was 4-10 to 2-0 at half time.

In the second half Clane came to life and rattled in 2 goals in the first 5 minute to shake things up and get the crowd going. They continued to put pressure on the Naas goals and got a further goal to make things much closer.

Naas made a number of changes and managed to settle the ship with a few well taken scores. In the end the experience and strength in depth of the Naas team allowed them to overcome a very spirited Clane team.

Both sides should be credited with a fine display of football and it bodes well for the future of senior football in both clubs.
